The Recreation Facilities Standards has completed Chapters 1 - 3 of the draft standards document: "U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Recreation Facility and Customer Service Standards." This document reflects input from stakeholders and the public on perceptions of current and future trends, and what the public wants Corps facilities to offer. Besides meeting customer expectations, our aims include (a) providing a simple, user-friendly document, (b) keeping local management central to redesign and problem-resolution efforts, (c) building a QA process for the customer and the Corps, (d) instituting a process for continuous improvements and corrections, and (e) retaining oversight while contracting out when there is demonstrated capability and cost savings to the Corps.
