Laser Jet Printing Instructions

PDF files are provided for printing both English and Spanish language versions of the comment card on a laser jet printer. Each will print two cards per standard sized 8- ½ x 11 inch page.

Hardware Notes: The laser printable files were developed for use with laser printers that use or emulate HP laser jet printer drivers. Using a compatible printer will yield two cards per page that are perfectly aligned on the front and back sides of the stock so that each page can be cut exactly in half to produce two identical cards. Ink jet printers and some non-HP laser printers may result in a printed page in which the front and back sides are not properly aligned. These will not yield a usable comment card. So test your system before printing a large quantity.

Materials: You will need a supply of 8 ½ x 11 inch medium or heavy card stock. A color that approximates that of a standard manila folder seems to work well. This color may be called bone, ivory, cream, etc. Each page will yield two printed cards.

    Procedures:

    • Insert the card stock into the laser jet printer.

    • Open the file using the Adobe PDF reader.

    • Use the Adobe print option to print one or more copies of the first page of the file.

    • After printing the first page, reinsert the stock so that it will print on the reverse side of the card. Make sure the stock is reinserted in the correct direction. You want the printing to align so that the final comment card can be flipped over sideways like a book page to correctly reveal the reverse side of the card.

    • Use the Adobe print option to print the same number of copies of the second page of the file.

    • Cut each printed page exactly in half to produce two comment cards.
