International Boating & Water Safety Summit 6-9 Mar 2011- Best Management Practices Session
The 15th International Boating & Water Safety Summit (IBWSS) will be held at the Savannah Marriot Riverfront on 6-9 March 2011 in Savannah, GA. In conjunction with IBWSS, the US Army Corps of Engineers will be conducting a Best Management Practices (BMP) Session on Sunday, 6 March 2011 from 11:30 am. to 3:30 pm. This event, which is being sponsored by the HQUSACE National Operations Center for Water Safety, will feature seven outstanding oral presentations from Corps team members throughout the country and several water safety related initiatives will be on exhibit. The attached information provides you with a list of the selected speakers/topics for the oral presentation portion of this program. The Summit is your premier opportunity to network, gain insight and skills to improve your boating and water safety programs. In addition to the Summit, there are other boating and water safety courses besides our BMP Session offered during the pre- and post-conference time periods. Please note that the USACE National Water Safety Training listed in the Summit schedule is actually a USCG Auxiliary Vessel Safety Check Training that should be done by the time the BMP begins. The suspense for pre-registering for the Summit is 7 February. Be sure to make your hotel reservations prior to 7 February to receive the special Summit rate of $108 (plus tax). Government per diem rate is only $97 (plus tax). Hotel reservations can be made directly by calling 912-233-7722. See the following web link for additional information on the IBWSS: http://www.watersafetycongress.org/ibwss.shtml
All USACE employees at the Summit should attend the USACE agency meeting on 7 March from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. to get an update from the National Water Safety Program. In addition to this Corps meeting, the BMP session on Sunday is another prime opportunity to learn from the best and let others know about the great things you do to promote boating and water safety. Everyone can benefit from the USACE meeting, the BMP and the Summit!
