USACE Invasive Species Strategic Plan
I am excited to share that on December 30th, the USACE Invasive Species Strategic Plan was
transmitted to the Committee on Environment and Public Works (Senate) and the Committee
on Natural Resources (House).
The John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and
Recreation Act (Public Law 116-9) required agencies, including USACE, to develop a strategic
plan for the implementation of the invasive species program to achieve, to the maximum extent
practicable, a substantive annual net reduction of invasive species populations or infested
acreage on land or water managed by the agency.
The Plan, developed by USACE’s
Invasive Species Leadership Team, provides an overarching framework for the broad spectrum
of invasive species management activities that are performed by USACE. The Plan includes
goals, objectives, and strategies that reflect both work that is ongoing and opportunities to
focus on emerging priorities.
The Invasive Species Leadership Team will be hosting a
webinar on March 5th, 2025 at 2pm EST to provide further details on the Plan along with
highlights of specific ongoing efforts, tools, and opportunities.
Please share both the
Plan and webinar calendar invitation, as attached, widely. The Plan is also available on the NRM
Gateway at https://corpslakes.erdc.dren.mil/employees/policy.cfm?
Id=invasive&Code=All.
Thank you for all that you do to provide for sustainable public
lands and waters!
