FY 2022 Handshake funding recipient announcement
I am happy to announce the recipients of the Handshake Partnership Program funding for FY 2022. See the attached announcement signed by Meg Gaffney- Smith, Interim Chief of Operations and Regulatory Division. These are outstanding partnerships and demonstrate the efforts and successes of our field projects in working with stakeholders to foster their involvement in improving and protecting our parks and natural resources. This initiative supports the Corps efforts in being a community partner and working on grassroots partnering projects.
Thank you for your many worthy nominations from across USACE. The final selectees came from a good cross-section of our national program: six projects are funded in six Corps districts and six divisions, involving 34 partners.
Please join me in congratulating the selected recipients, which include: Beltzville Dam- Invasive Species Portable Wash Station: Stopping Aquatic Hitchhikers Clendening Lake- Wetland Loop Trail and Wildlife Viewing Area John Martin Reservoir- Tamarisk Removal & Native Habitat Restoration Perry Lake Project- Universally Accessible Fishing Dock and Fish Habitat Shenango River Lake- Shenango Hiking Trail Wright Patman Lake- Caddo Ridge Disc Golf Course at Spillway Park
Congratulations to the selected projects who have worked hard to foster and support these efforts. Thanks to the Partnership Advisory Committee for their hard work in promoting and evaluating the Handshake proposals. I encourage all Districts to consider applying for future consideration of the Handshake Program as these seeds of partnerships will grow to provide long term benefits to the Corps and the public.
