    2019 Handshake Recipients
I am happy to announce the recipients of the 2019 Handshake Partnership Program funding for FY 2019. These are outstanding partnerships and demonstrate the efforts and successes of our field projects in working with stakeholders to foster their involvement in improving and protecting our parks and natural resources. This initiative supports the Corps efforts in being a community partner and working on grassroots partnering projects.

Thank you for your many worthy nominations from across USACE. The final selectees came from a good cross-section of our national program: six projects are funded in 5 Corps districts and 4 divisions, involving 29 partners.

Please join me in congratulating the selected recipients, which include:

    • Francis E Walter Dam- Habitat restoration
    • Rend Lake-Wetland viewing area
    • Saylorville Lake- Archery range
    • Summersville Lake- Climber access trail
    • Waco Lake- Small boat access improvements
    • Wright Patman Lake- Pollinator habitat and interpretive trail

Congratulations to the selected projects who have worked hard to foster and support these efforts. Thanks to the Partnership Advisory Committee for their hard work in promoting and evaluating the Handshake proposals. I encourage all Districts to consider applying for future consideration of the Handshake Program as these seeds of partnerships will grow to provide long term benefits to the Corps and the public. My point of contact for the Handshake Program is Heath Kruger who can be reached at (402) 995-2716. Heather Burke, National Partnership Program Manager, who can assist with all partnership and volunteer needs can be reached at (202) 761-4704.
