Transportation Grant Opportunity: FY22 and 23 Wildlife Crossing Pilot Program NOFO is Posted
FHWA has released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program (WCPP) is now available for Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023 in the amount of $111.85 million. The program helps carry out projects by certain Federal, Tribal, State, and local governments, including municipalities, counties, and others that reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions (WVCs) and improve habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species.
The WCPP provides funding for construction and non-construction projects. Construction Projects include engineering, design, permitting, right-of-way acquisition, and other activities related to the construction of infrastructure improvements, such as the building of a wildlife crossing overpass or underpass. Non-Construction projects include planning, research, and educational activities that are not directly related to construction of infrastructure improvements, such as a hot spot analysis of WVCs. All projects should seek to protect motorists and wildlife by reducing the number of WVCs and improve habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species.
Federal Land Management Agencies such as USACE are eligible applicants.
The deadline for applications is 11:59 PM EST on August 1, 2023. Grant applications must be submitted through Grants.gov. Additional information is posted here: https://highways.dot.gov/federal- lands/programs/wildlife-crossings and copies of webinars will be posted to this site shortly as well. Thanks,
