World Ranger Day - Today , Friday 31 July
With the unprecedented challenges facing the Corps this year, now more than ever, I want to
take this opportunity to express my appreciation to you, as proud member of our Park Ranger
community, for your dedication and service and for the vital role you play in accomplishing our
agency's mission objectives. Today is "World Ranger Day" and a day to highlight your
accomplishments and recognize your public service.
As designated by the International
Ranger Federation (IRF), "World Ranger Day is celebrated worldwide on July 31st to
commemorate rangers killed or injured in the line of duty and to celebrate the work rangers do
to protect the planet's natural treasures and cultural heritage". I'd like to thank our Park
Rangers and supporting staff for the great work accomplished each and every day to protect
our missions, the natural resources and more than 250 million annual visitors. Information on
IRF World Ranger Day can be found at http://www.internationalrangers.org/world-ranger-day.
USACE
leadership is beyond proud of the conduct and dedication of our personnel in the field and
cognizant of the many challenges you encounter each day that have increased in response to
new operational changes that the current year has brought us. I ask that you continue to think
safety first in your duties as we encourage the public to do the same. Remember that the
USACE Critical Incident Stress Management Program (CISM) is available at any time when
stress management is needed. CISM provides peer support and information on healthy life
choices in response to stressful work environment incidents. More information can be found at

This year, the National Water Safety
Program in cooperation with the Corps Foundation, has posted a World Ranger Day video on
the National Water Safety Program's (Please Wear It) Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages
to show appreciation for all that the USACE Park Rangers do to promote water safety and
save lives. The video will showcase several USACE Park Rangers so you are encouraged to
share the post with your friends and followers.
