2020 Handshake recipient announcement
I am happy to announce the recipients of the Handshake Partnership Program funding for FY 2020. See the attached announcement signed by Thomas P. Smith, Chief of Operations and Regulatory Division. These are outstanding partnerships and demonstrate the efforts and successes of our field projects in working with stakeholders to foster their involvement in improving and protecting our parks and natural resources. This initiative supports the Corps efforts in being a community partner and working on grassroots partnering projects.
Thank you for your many worthy nominations from across USACE. The final selectees came from a good cross-section of our national program: nine projects are funded in 6 Corps districts and 3 divisions, involving 52 partners.
Please join me in congratulating the selected recipients, which include:
Big Hill Lake- Trail mapping and maintenance; Blue Marsh Lake- Mountain bike skills area and trail; Carlyle Lake- Accessible outdoor classroom; Mississippi River Project- Tree planting; Pine Bluff- Trailhead/restroom improvements and pollinator garden; Rend Lake- Archery complex and mountain bike trail; Rivers Project- Outdoor classroom amphitheater; Raystown Lake- Trail improvements; Lake Texoma- Boat ramp
Congratulations to the selected projects who have worked hard to foster and support these efforts. Thanks to the Partnership Advisory Committee for their hard work in promoting and evaluating the Handshake proposals. I encourage all Districts to consider applying for future consideration of the Handshake Program as these seeds of partnerships will grow to provide long term benefits to the Corps and the public. My point of contact for the Handshake Program is Heath Kruger who can be reached at (402) 995-2716.
